Anything Changed?
Luke 17:11-19
Intro:
Luke 17:11-19 (NIV)11 Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. 12 As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance 13 and called out in a loud voice, "Jesus, Master, have pity on us!" 14 When he saw them, he said, "Go, show yourselves to the priests." And as they went, they were cleansed. 15 One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. 16 He threw himself at Jesus' feet and thanked him--and he was a Samaritan. 17 Jesus asked, "Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? 18 Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?" 19 Then he said to him, "Rise and go; your faith has made you well."

A) They stood at a distance 13 and called out in a loud voice, "Jesus, Master, have pity on us!"

¨ There cry and our cry are the same.
III) There Cure our Cure
A) 14 When he saw them, he said, "Go, show yourselves to the priests." And as they went, they were cleansed.
1) There cure came from Jesus
(a) I have often wondered why Jesus would send them off to go see the priests
(b) I think Jesus did this so the Priests would see and the people would see that Jesus could do what the Priests could not.
(i) There is no doubt in my mind that these men had been to the Priest at some point and time in their sickness
¨ They priest had probably prayed over them
¨ The priest had probably done all they could to help these men
Þ And Jesus says go show yourself to the priests so they will know that There power comes through me.
Þ Jesus CURED these men from something that no one else could
Þ Jesus CURED these men in was that was un thinkable –he simply spoke and they began to be healed
· Ultimately these men where healed because they placed their faith in Jesus.
Þ When they stood there calling out to Jesus for mercy and pity.
Þ They where saying Jesus we know you are the only one who can help.
Þ Jesus we place our faith in you
Þ And they where healed.
B) There cure and our cure are the same today.
1) If we want to be cured we need to place our faith in Jesus
2) If we want to get well we need to place our faith in Jesus
3) If we want to be CLEANSED we must place our faith in Jesus.
C) I was dirty, I was lost, I was a sinner
1) And I cried out to Jesus and he Cured me of my sins
2) I cried out to Jesus and he gave me a new life
3) I cried out to Jesus and he forgave me of my sins
4) I cried out to Jesus and he brought a cure into my life that no one nor nothing else could ever bring.
D) There cure and our cure are the same.
IV) There Response our Response
A) 15 One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. 16 He threw himself at Jesus' feet and thanked him--and he was a Samaritan. 17 Jesus asked, "Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? 18 Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?"
1) One out of ten came back to give thanks to God.
2) One out of ten got the point
3) One out of ten understood what happened
4) One out of ten gave God the honor and praise he deserved
5) One out of ten.
(a) I love the question Jesus asked “where not all ten cleansed?”
(i) Jesus knew they where he was not surprised by this
(ii)He knew he had healed them all
(iii) He knew he had given all ten new life
(iv) He knew that none of them would ever be the same again
¨ In fact he knew all of this before he cleansed them
Þ It’s great to know that Jesus has MERCY on us even though he knows we will not thank him
B) Nine of the men:
1) Ran home to show their family’s
2) Went back to the boss to get their old job back
3) Went to the bar to mingle with friends
4) Went on with life without ever giving thanks
(a) Only one of the Ten came back and said thank you to Jesus.
C) How many times has our response been the same?
1) Jesus got us out of a bind
2) Jesus pulled us out of a HOLE
3) He brought us through a tough FINACAL SITUATION
4) He took away some pain in our life
5) He took away our sin, and made us into NEW CREATIONS
(a) And we go on with our lives
(b) We go back to what we did before
(c) We go meet with friends
(d) How many times do we turn around and go back to JESUS?
(i) How many times do we go back and through ourselves at the feet of JESUS and Say thank you?
(ii)How many times is our response like this mans?
¨ I want to challenge us all this Thanksgiving to make our response like this mans
¨ We should all be truly thankful, grateful, and touched by all that Jesus has done for us.
D) Will our response be the same as there response?
Conclusion: Your condition is no different from there’s
Your cry is no different from there’s
Your cure is no different from there’s
But your response can be different if you chose to make it different.
